Frequently Asked Questions
The average weight of an adult Cavapoo is between 15 to 20 pounds with a height of between 18 to 14 inches.
It depends on which parent breed they take after more. If your Cavapoo has more Poodle in their genes then there is a good chance that it will be more hypoallergenic then if they had more Cavalier in their genes. It is important to note, that no dog is truly 100% hypoallergenic.
They are not known for their barking, but all dogs are different. If you notice your Cavapoo beginning such habit, it must be nipped in the bud. These dogs are easily trainable so it won’t be difficult.
Cavapoo’s have an average life expectancy of 11 to 15 years.
Yes! Cavapoo’s have a friendly and playful temperament which makes them an excellent companion for children. However, just like any small dog, young children should always be supervised when they are around any dog, no matter the breed.
The Cavapoo is energetic in its nature and therefore requires regular exercise and daily walks to remain healthy. Playing a game of tug or fetch with them along with a walk will ensure that your puppy’s needs are met.
Cavapoos may be curly like the Poodle or straight and wavy like the Cavalier. Once a puppy reaches the age of 6 weeks old you can see what type of coat they will have. You can get both coat types in the same litter.
There is no difference. The Cavapoo and Cavoodle are both names for the Poodle and Cavalier mix. They are also known as Cavipoo, Cavadoodle, Cavapoodle, and a Cavadoo.
They can be solid or multi colored. The most common colors are black, white and brown.
Because of their small stature, they don’t require a lot of food. Generally, 1 cup of food per day is plenty. This should be broken up into two parts - half in the morning and half at dinner time.
F1 Cavapoos are the result of breeding a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. When 2 Cavapoos are bred together, they are referred to as an F2. When an F2 Cavapoo is bred to another F2 Cavapoo, they are known as an F3. However, if an F1 Cavapoo is bred to either a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or a Poodle, they are referred as being F1B.
Smaller breeds can be a challenge to housebreak, compared to the bigger breeds. However, these little ones are intelligent so with consistency and praise, it will surely be successful.
Cavapoos are brave so you can count on them to alert you when something is amiss, but don’t rely on them much for protection.
The Cavapoo can have different coats depending on their genes, so it us up to you to decide if you want your Cavapoo to have shorter or longer hair. It is optimal to take your little one to the groomer every 2 to 3 months to keep them clean and trim.
Not at all! Due to their smart and curious nature, these crossbreeds are easy to train. This is especially true for Cavoodles who take after their Poodle parent.
We bought Seven back in March after looking for the "perfect" puppy for months. My boyfriend Michael instantly fell in love with her (I feel in love with them all and couldnt chose) so I made him chose. He made the right choice. Seven is such a sweet and loving little pup and I cannot take how cute she is. Premier Pup I cannot thank you guys enough for my little angel pup. The customer service that you guys provided was amazing and I really appreciated that fact that you guys kept in contact with Michael regarding who Seven was doing. I usually would'nt have ordered a dog online, but you guys made it super easy, sent pics and videos and I could not help but to fall in love with her. Picking her up from the airport was one of the happiest moments of my life. Thanks again.
We could not be happier with our sweet and adorable new puppy! We have 4 children ranging in age from 6 years to 11 months and little Millee had no trouble adjusting! The overall process was so easy and the staff at Premier Pups was always very responsive and helpful. I do suggest doing the FaceTime/video option for at least two pups, as it really made a difference for us and helped us to know we were selecting the best puppy for our family. We will most certainly be referring others to Premier Pups.
Tucker came home with us April 22nd and our life will never be the same! He is so perfect in absolutely every way! We drove 17 hours in a day to pick this pup up and bring him home and we are so happy we did. The facility was beautiful as we drove in... and every day with tucker has been so amazing. They have checked in on Tucker every day. We couldn’t be happier.
We purchased Lilly back in June and we could not be happier with her!! She's the perfect fun loving addition to our family. Premier pups staff was extremely helpful and wonderful to work with. They provided us with everything we needed from start to finish to ensure we had a healthy happy Lilly to bring home!
Update: We purchased Beau in March 2016 at 9 weeks old. He turned 2 on January 2 and is now a Therapy Dog. He brings so much joy to children and hospital patients. We are so fortunate to have this wonderful, loving dog in our life. Thanks to Premier for making our dreams come true!
Cooper is everything we every imagined. Playful, caring, and most importantly, loving. We will definitely purchase another pup from Premire Pups and I am more than thankful to call him my pup. Thank you Premire Pups!
We were hesitant to buy a puppy online sight unseen. However, we have had a positive experience with Premier Pups. They were responsive and organized. We had him shipped on an airplane to Minneapolis, which went smooth. We were impressed that the company called to check up on him and sent with him medicines and food to get started. We would recommend Premier Pups to anyone looking to buy a puppy!
We have been wanting to adopt a puppy for months, but we couldn't find the right breed or place to get one. But after being recommended to this website by a good friend I can happily say that I didn't need to look for another. Marcell is now doing great and my entire family loves him.
What a joy our Finley has been so far! We adore her?? She is precious, curious, playful and healthy. She is potty training well. Sleeping 6 hours at night, and adjusting well. It’s been 13 years since we have had a puppy, and we were a little nervous. The instructions are great, and the experience has been easy so far. Puppy love??
I was updated via text through Niles’ flight to San Francisco.. pictures included, which really made my day! The instructions are all very clear and the meal kit that came with him helped with the craziness of getting settled the first day. Niles didn’t seem sedated or traumatized from his long travel day.. just super happy and lovable from the second we picked him up! So far so good.. I would recommend premier pups to anyone who asked!

If you love small, intelligent dogs, then you will appreciate the amazing attributes of the Cavapoo, a cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle. Also, known as the Cavadoodle or Cavoodle, this designer breed originated in Australia and has become incredibly popular in the United States due to their low shedding characteristic and obvious intelligence. Australian breeders began intentionally mixing the Cavalier Spaniel and the Poodle back in the 90s in a bid to create a puppy with the amazing qualities of both breeds.
Appearance and Grooming
This small puppy has a fluffy coat that varies from straight, to wavy or curly. They come in different colors with the most common being black, brown, tricolor, white and yellow. Due to the breed having one parent that does there is a minimal possibility that your puppy may shed. Its coat needs to be frequently brushed to avoid tangles. Brushing also helps to remove dirt, especially around the legs. The fur should be periodically cut throughout the year and more often on the legs, muzzle and around the eyes.
Just like their parent the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, they will be a very affectionate dog that loves to be with its family, but like the poodle will require more mental stimulation. These dogs are very connected with their owners and if left alone for long periods of time can become anxious and even form a habit of barking.
Family and Companionship
These loveable lap dogs are great companions and the perfect family pet. They will fit right in to their new environment in no time at all. Fool of energy and always ready to play, these dogs are perfect for children, though because of their small size it is important to supervise during playtime.
The Cavapoo is energetic in its nature and therefore requires regular exercise and walks to remain healthy. Playing a game of tug or fetch with them along with a walk will ensure that your puppy’s needs are met. They do not require as much exercise as Poodles, but are a bit more outgoing than Cavaliers.
Training and Socialization
Due to its energetic and social attitude, it is important to regularly socialize your puppy with other dogs and people throughout its life. This is a fun loving and clever dog that can easily be trained and responds well to positive reinforcement from persons who behave fairly toward him and who show consistency and patience. Training in agility and competitive obedience is also great for Cavapoos as they are an intelligent breed that is eager to learn.
