The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or the Cavalier Spaniel for short originated in England during the 17th century and quickly became the favorite pet of the Royal House of England. Recognized as one of the largest toy breeds and true to their heritage, these loyal and devoted pups make for the ultimate companion and lap dog.
Appearance and Grooming
It has a strong, flat back and a long and silky fur with different colors like black, grey, white, red or cream, a long tail and a small body with long and pendent ears. It has a feathered tail which is carried high and moves when it runs. Because of its long coat, brushing is recommended often to minimize shedding.
Temperament
It has a friendly, active and playful personality and it gets along with humans and other pets. It is very happy to accompany its owners at daily activities. It doesn’t bark frequently and is generally well-behaved. Despite these, it can become suspicious around strangers. Sometimes, it tends to be shy or stubborn.
Family and Companionship
These playful puppies are just as happy to be city dogs as they are to be country dogs. They have soft and gentle nature, which makes them outstanding as therapy dogs. Their sweet and affectionate personality makes them a perfect companion for anyone especially, "empty nesters," as they love to cuddle and be close to their owner. Although these dogs have a proclivity for noisy greetings, they are generally not a protective breed.
Exercise
Don’t let their toy size fool you these dogs pack a lot of energy for their small frames. A daily walk each day and some indoor active play will surely keep your puppy in peak condition.
Training and Socialization
It is loyalty and obedience allow for this breed to be easily trained. Cavalier Spaniels are a true sporting breed and are often used in sport competitions for their athleticism. They are often used in dog sports such as agility, flyball and rally. Some have even shown their prowess as hunting dogs. Food rewards and positive reinforcement help ensure that training goes smoothly. Cavaliers have a soft personality, so yelling at them is counterproductive and likely to send them into hiding. Instead, reward them every time you see them doing something that is good.

We were very skeptical buying our puppy online no more. We had to put our 12 1/2 year old yorkie and our 15 1/2 year old dachshund down within a month of each other it broke our hearts they were family not just dogs. I wasn’t sure I was ready for another dog yet until I saw this baby’s face. He has been such a joy. He had to be flown to us he came tail wagging very clean and very healthy looking and has just been a love. He is so smart is doing great potty training and doing good crate training. He goes for rides with us in his new car seat and just falls asleep loves his rides. We couldn’t be happier with our new family member and all the help along the way thanks premier pets

We couldn’t be more in love with Charlie!! We unfortunately lost our yellow lab due to bone cancer and although the void could never be filled Charlie has stolen all of our hearts! He loves sleeping under the covers at night and snores quite loudly! Which I love!! Thank you Premier Pups for such a wonderful addition to our family!!

Gunner is an awesome dog. Very lovable. Premier Pups was great to work with. Pup was ready when promised, they stayed late in order for me to pick him up. Very good follow up to see how the pup is doing. If you have never experienced a Cavalier King Charles, I highly recommend. Breed is very easy to train, very docile and lovable. My pup loves to swim as well.
