Q: Hi Dr. Pup- We are still having the flea problem with Sophie. I want to get an IGR to spray the home but do not know which brand to use or where to buy it. Any suggestions? Also, she took comfortis about 3 weeks ago, however, i think she only got down about 1/2 a dose. She is not "due" until Sept 13th, should I wait to give her another dose or go ahead and give it to her now? I am also switching her to trifexis. Thanks- Amanda and Russell
A: The indoor house treatment I use is called Knockout ES Area Treatment. It is available in some hardware stores, sometimes even Lowe's and Home Depot. It is also available through multiple on line sources including Amazon. You might want to get enough to do two treatments 3 weeks apart. With the safety of either Comfortis or Trifexis it should be fine to redose at this time as long as it has been at least 2 weeks since any previous treatment. Be watching for tapeworms as they are spread by fleas. The videos about fleas and tapeworms might be useful.
