Differences in Eyelids

April 7, 2016, 8:45 PM
Q: Hello Has anyone experienced this? Around the circumference of my maltese puppy's right eye is very pink like a hamster. . I noticed she doesn't have any bottom lashes for example: (where a woman would put eye liner) This is not staining. She seems to be able to see out of it ok but its noticably smaller than her left eye which is big and round.
A: One thing you are seeing is the absence of pigmentation of the eyelid. This is not abnormal. Can you send a couple more pics of her whole face? From these photos the right eye opening may be slightly smaller. So the pigmentation difference and opening diameter are not the same as the other eye but unless accompanied by other abnormalities there is no problem. Slight differences in eyelid openings are normal in people and pets. Be sure to have your vet check her eyes on her first and followup exams.
