Found a Worm

November 12, 2014, 11:00 AM
Q: I had found a little worm on my bed and the first thought that came to mind is that it came from my puppy? At the risk of sounding ignorant, could this be a tapeworm if she has had all of her de-worming medication? I'm not sure how big the worms are and where that could have possibly come from?
A: What you found is a tapeworm segment. Commonly used "dewormers" are effective against many other types of worms but most are not effective against tapeworms. There are 3 products which are effective Cestex, Droncit and Drontal Plus. These are available through your veterinarian. Take a look at the Doctorpup video on tapeworms.
