Eye filmy

Q: Hi! I have an 8 month old shichon who will frequently get what seems to be like a filmy/gunky substance that will get on her physical eyeball. She doesn't seem to be affected by it but when we look at her eyes it can seem to be covered in some substance. Any idea of what it could be and what the best way to remove it would be?
A: But itself that just indicates some irriitation to the surface of the eye but does not say from what. The most likely would be conjunctivitis or infection of the lining of the eye, dry eye or dystichiasis which is abnormal eye lashes. You can start by sending me a couple pictures to support at doctorpup.com that might help or you may need to see your vet. Lifting away with a tissue moistened with saline or distilled water is a short term solution.
