Licking after Grooming

April 24, 2017, 7:47 AM
Q: My 6 month old Teddy bear recently got his regular grooming. Since then he has been licking his front paws like crazy. There is nothing visibly wrong with them and they do not seem sensitive to touch. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?
A: There are a couple possibilities, if his paws were trimmed (esp if done with clippers) it can cause itching kind of like after you shave. Also some groomers apply treatments to the skin or nails after the grooming witch can also lead to some irritation. I would check with your groomer and consider a good rinsing in plain water.
