The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or the Cavalier Spaniel for short originated in England during the 17th century and quickly became the favorite pet of the Royal House of England. Recognized as one of the largest toy breeds and true to their heritage, these loyal and devoted pups make for the ultimate companion and lap dog.
Appearance and Grooming
It has a strong, flat back and a long and silky fur with different colors like black, grey, white, red or cream, a long tail and a small body with long and pendent ears. It has a feathered tail which is carried high and moves when it runs. Because of its long coat, brushing is recommended often to minimize shedding.
Temperament
It has a friendly, active and playful personality and it gets along with humans and other pets. It is very happy to accompany its owners at daily activities. It doesn’t bark frequently and is generally well-behaved. Despite these, it can become suspicious around strangers. Sometimes, it tends to be shy or stubborn.
Family and Companionship
These playful puppies are just as happy to be city dogs as they are to be country dogs. They have soft and gentle nature, which makes them outstanding as therapy dogs. Their sweet and affectionate personality makes them a perfect companion for anyone especially, "empty nesters," as they love to cuddle and be close to their owner. Although these dogs have a proclivity for noisy greetings, they are generally not a protective breed.
Exercise
Don’t let their toy size fool you these dogs pack a lot of energy for their small frames. A daily walk each day and some indoor active play will surely keep your puppy in peak condition.
Training and Socialization
It is loyalty and obedience allow for this breed to be easily trained. Cavalier Spaniels are a true sporting breed and are often used in sport competitions for their athleticism. They are often used in dog sports such as agility, flyball and rally. Some have even shown their prowess as hunting dogs. Food rewards and positive reinforcement help ensure that training goes smoothly. Cavaliers have a soft personality, so yelling at them is counterproductive and likely to send them into hiding. Instead, reward them every time you see them doing something that is good.

I picked up my 9 week old puppy one year ago and my life has been forever changed. I can not thank premier pups enough for all of the patience and support during the process of bringing home a new family member. In the year that I have had my premier pup, I have had no issues with his health or anything of that sort. He is a well tempered dog and he is full of energy and love. I HIGHLY recommend this company for your next puppy and I also recommend doing the doctor pup subscription for at least a year should anything go wrong with your new puppy. I have since moved to Virginia but I plan to purchase my next furry friend from premier pups considering my fantastic experience so far.

Colt literally flew into our lives February 14,2021. He has filled a household and rescue dog Jake full of happiness and laughter after the passing of Gabby the last of our Yorkies. Jake and Colt are best friends “brothers”. Our veterinarian said He has never seen a puppy purchased like this, as healthy as Colt. I lost my Son a year and a half ago and it’s been a rough road. We never get over losing a kid really. But me and my wife missed the love and unconditional love fur babies give. After about 3 months of research we decided this was the breed we wanted. We can’t express the gratitude we have for Premier Pups. Also the several phone calls we’ve gotten since we’ve brought him home to Louisiana. He’s adapting well to the climate and most of all us. We flew to Columbus,Ohio by Southwest Airlines so he could fly back with us in the plane. Worth every penny. We have renamed him CeeJay Roosevelt LeBoeuf after my Son Cosmo. CJ-Cosmo Junior. We know he will uphold Cosmo’s reputation and we believe Cosmo approves. Thanks again especially Ryan even though you are a Browns fan hahahaha. I saved another one from becoming a Buckeye fan since I’m Go Blue Michigan all day everyday lol.
