The French Bulldog also affectionately known as, the Frenchie, Frenchie puppies, appeared during the 19th Century in Nottingham, England as a smaller version of the English Bulldog and is often referred to as the Toy English Bulldog. The purpose was to make a smaller, miniature, lap dog with similar characteristics to that of its ancestor.
Appearance and Grooming
With its dark eyes that are set wide apart, broad and deep muzzle, large bat ears, black or lighter nose and thick upper lips that hang down over the lower lips, this dog is supported by its strong and heavy bones. It has medium fine coat which is short and smooth. Its skin is loose and forms wrinkles around the head and shoulders. Its coat is brindle, brindle and white, cream or cream and white, fawn or fawn and white, fawn brindle, white, white and brindle, white and fawn, black, black and fawn, black and white, fawn and black, fawn brindle and white or gray and white. It also can have black, brindle or white markings or spots of colors. It needs little grooming and regular brushing as it is an average shedder. Your new puppy will also need regular nail clippings, ear cleanings and, more often, a face cleaning.
This funny little puppy is known for being a class clown of sorts. They enjoy playing and entertaining their family, as well as cuddling and snoozing with their favorite person. They are sociable, sweet, and fun loving with a bit of a stubborn streak.
Family and Companionship
Bred for centuries as a companion, they are particular fond of people, and become extremely attached to their families. Though they make for the perfect companion, they are not the best choice for someone who works long hours or spends a lot of time away from home.
This sturdy and spirited breed needs daily walks and plenty of active play to burn off energy, but do keep it away from the water as these dogs aren’t known to swim well if a tall. They are sensitive to hot and cold weather and so they will need proper protection from the elements when playing outdoors.
Training and Socialization
These dogs are very smart, and training them is easy as long as you make it seem like a game and keep it fun. Their playful and sometimes stubborn nature is not ideal for training them for agility or obedience competitions, as they are free thinkers and spirits. Its temperament requires a calm, but firm, patient and consistent trainer who can manage a proper communication with it. Training session should be short and full of praise and rewards.

Our Lola is now 5 months old, couldn’t have asked for a better experience in buying a puppy from a clean, professional atmosphere. She’s the best dog! Im looking forward to buying another Frenchie in the future!!!
We have been so excited to get a Frenchie and our dream came true. Premier pups was more than helpful as we went through the process of purchasing our baby and having him flown. When he came home he had gotten sick and a lady from premier pups gave me her cell number and texted me all day helping me to make sure he was eating and what to do. Now he is more energetic, spoiled and our family just can't get enough of him.
We adopted Our puppy baby on October 1st 2016 He is perfect ! Premier pups is the best route we could have taken. He's so healthy and playful ?? Thank you guys for giving us a great puppy ! Will always come to you for any others in the future.
Oh Lola has stole our hearts. We have wanted a French Bulldog for several years and 2019 was our year. We told them in August we were ready to put a deposit down for a pup due in November. 3 days later we received a call about this little girl. She wasn’t quite brand new when we got her but late August Lola May raided our home. She is the best friend a family could have. Thank you to Premier Pups and Dr Pup for making our dreams come true.
Our pup loves his new home. He's already visited his vet here in Virginia and on his file the vet put, "This dog is AWESOME!" He loves running around the house and keeping mom and dad on their toes. Thanks to Matt and everyone for letting us pick him up early on Tuesday (5/9/17) where we had a long drive home. Everywhere we go people fall in love with him, how could you not?
I spent a lot of time researching sites and getting discouraged reading about the scams out there when trying to purchase a puppy online. I came across Premier Pups site and read everything I could and all of the positive reviews. When I saw the picture of my French Bulldog Bijou, I knew he was the one. I contemplated the purchase all day before pressing the purchase button. Although there was a little obstacle in getting him, Bijou was mine by the end of the week. A special thanks to Mike for making that happen and for the genuine care he had in making sure my puppy was doing well before and after I received him. My family and I are very happy with our new addition and that Premier Pups made that happen.
We’ve had Bruno since 12/10/2020. Bruno has been a great addition to our family...he’s the sweetest, cutest and best cuddler! I’ve been wanting a French Bulldog for several years, and never bit the bullet to get one. Due to the pandemic and working from home, this was the perfect time! Using Premier Pups was the best decision! It was a seamless process from the beginning to picking him up from the airport. We followed their guidance and Bruno has been in perfect health since his arrival. The staff at our Veterinarian’s office simply adores him!! We truly appreciated the puppy guide, access to Doctor Pup and their daily check-ins. I know we would NOT have been as successful had we gone another route with getting a puppy. I would definitely recommend Premier Pups!!!
After losing our Corgi of 10 years to kidney disease and grieved for a year my family decided we were ready to have another fur baby in our lives—yet of course we all disagreed on the breed. My parents decided they wanted a Frenchie, which left me outnumbered. My Dad found our baby (formally named Tess but she is now Malia) on Premier Pups. I was worried about her traveling and purchasing a pup online but after we had talked on the phone with their adoption team it put all of us at ease. Malia was at first shy when she came to us and then opened up instantly. We brought her home and she was every where exploring her new home and adapted so well. This September it will be 2 years that we have had Malia and next Monday she will be turning 2 years old. She’s been such an amazing edition to our family and I’m thankful to have her everyday! Thank you Premier Pups for making this fur baby Mom very joyful again!
Billy Blue, originally just Blue, is doing fantastic in our home with our 9 month old female Vizsla, Rosie! He’s healthy, eating well, playful and sleeping like a baby in bed with my daughter! He’s adjusted well and the Vet says he’s in perfect health:)
Hello - We agreed to buy my son a puppy when he made Eagle Scout-who knew he'd do it at 13! So after searching tons of shelters and websites looking for a small dog , we fell in love with Scouts face and quickly purchased her. Within 2 days she was flown in a private jet to a local town. The owners helped surprise my son with the puppy. It was great to see his face. She came with a LOT of medications and instructions and I was very worried. People doub bted me buying a dog on the internet. But she got a clean bill of health from the vet on her first visit and was off all the meds. And I am happy to say I am writing this today as she has finished her Spay operation. There was a concern that a french bulldog would have to have a narse ( nasal ) surgery also; but the Surgeon said she is had the best nose he'd seen. The dog is in good health and my son is happy. Thank you!
