Poochon Overview

The Poochon is a lively, outgoing, and joyful little doodle dog that craves adventures and loves deeply. Originally from Australia, the Poochon was bred to enchant the world with gorgeous looks, great agility, a big beautiful heart, and a delightful personality. Poochons are a Doodle breed or designer hybrids of a Miniature or Toy Poodle and a Bichon Frise. They are often referred to as Bichpoo and Bichon Poodle Mix, and they are among the most popular designer Doodles today.

Cavachon Overview

The Cavachon is a stunning little designer hybrid that comes from North America. Keen intelligence, a fun-loving personality, caring nature, adventurous spirit, and a positive outlook on life are just some of the many qualities these dogs possess. Cavachon puppies are a crossbreed of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise. They originated during the 1990s and have been among the most popular designer hybrids ever since. Other names the Cavachon goes by are the Cavalier Bichon Breed and the Bichon King Charles Breed.

Poochon vs Cavachon Temperament

Poochon Temperament

The Poochon dogs are calm, determined, and highly affectionate. They get along great with other dogs, pets, and strangers, and are wonderful with kids. Just like their Cavachon cousins, Poochons love to be active and engage in all sorts of fun family games and sports. They enjoy games of hide-and-seek, tugs of war, chases, family gatherings, and adventures. They are also very fond of belly rubs and cuddles, pampering, and the center of attention. Poochons are outgoing, friendly, sociable, and very smart dogs.  Thanks to their Einstein parent breed genes, the Poochon puppies are scientists in the making. They have an impressive set of skills and a great capacity to pick up on tricks quickly. Poochons are also famously known to be quick-witted and versatile dogs that are passionate about pleasing their owner. They can be taught a myriad of commands and dog games, and they are great at sporting competitions that involve agility and obedience. These adorable puppies love to test their speed limits, agility performance, chewing capabilities, and investigating skills.

Cavachon Temperament

Cavachons are even-tempered, gentle, and polite dogs. They are excellent around children, generous with love, kind towards strangers, and quick to bond with other dogs and pets. Although they are enthusiastic about spending an entire day being active outdoors, they also have a sweet-cuddly nature and are more than happy to crash on their favorite lap after a full day's workout. Some of their favorite hobbies include swimming, hiking and running, fetching, cuddling, and playing any type of canine game. They are known to be great at dog sports and very fond of obstacle courses. Cavachons are also comedic stunt artists that love to entertain. These funny comedians love to perform for a cheering audience and they’ve never failed to cause giggle fits. They have a few tricks up their sleeves and are always eager to learn more. As the offspring of two very intelligent parent breeds, the Cavachon puppy is a brilliant little student when it comes to training. These pups are focused, obedient, responsive, and keen on pleasing their trainer. Give them a puppy treat and some praise and they will be all ears.

They are quick to bond with their family members and are excellent playmates for kids. They adapt well to both apartments and houses and are a great fit for novice owners, families, couples, and active seniors. The Poochon and Cavachon both share in their love for learning. They are excellent students with people-pleasing personalities and an eagerness to impress that is rarely matched.

Although they are very similar in temperament and personality, the Poochon and Cavachons do have a few traits that set them apart. The Cavachons are family-attached dogs that can’t stand to be apart from their humans. These devoted dogs want to be involved in every family activity and adventure there is. Unlike the Cavachons, Poochons are more independent and don’t require the presence of their humans to have fun. They can be left alone for a few hours each day as they will happily keep busy with a chew toy or indulge in a long nap. Cavachons on the other hand, don’t fancy being left alone and are generally prone to separation anxiety.

Poochon vs Cavachon Appearance Comparison

When comparing the Poochon vs Cavachon appearance, there are a few things that stand out between the two. Although they are both hypoallergenic hybrid dogs without a set breed standard for looks, the Cavachon does tend to resemble the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel parent breed more, whereas the Poochon generally takes after the Poodle parent. The Cavachons have longer ears and more Cavalier spaniel features, whereas the Poochons are smaller in size and resemble their Toy Poodle parent breed more. The Cavachon coat is more often than not wavy and a bit longer, with the Poochon coat being shorter and of a curlier texture.

Poochon vs Cavachon Comparison Conclusion

The Poochon and Cavachon are two of the most remarkable dog breeds around. They are a breeze to train, easy to care for, and even easier to love. Both breeds are excellent with children (toddler, small, and teen alike) and they both love their humans unconditionally. Although both the Poochon and Cavachon can adapt to different lifestyles, they much prefer to have an active owner with whom they can explore the world and go on adventures. With that in mind, we recommend the kind and loving Cavachon to active families, couples, and seniors who are home for most of the time and can give this pup all the attention and fun he needs, and the independent and athletic Poochon puppies to families and single folk with busy schedules that are looking for a fun pup to share in adventures with.
