The Yorkshire Terrier also known to many as the Yorkie, said to have Scottish ancestry, was brought to England by breeders in the 19th century. It was originally bred and used to catch mice in clothing mills. Due to its energetic and brave temperament, it excelled at this task. Today, the Yorkie is one of the most popular and sought-after dog breeds in the United States. Its long silky coat which is usually blue and tan in color gives this puppy a unique physical appearance. These charming little dogs crave attention and are very affectionate towards humans; thus, making them the perfect addition to your family.
Appearance and Grooming
This toy sized terrier has a long, silky and soft blue and tan coat that is parted on the face and from the base of the skull to the end of the tail and hangs evenly and quite straight down each side of body. The body is neat, compact and well proportioned. An interesting fact is that their coats become lighter in color as they age. Though, shedding is minimal, their long hair requires daily brushing in effort to prevent tangles and knots. Regular grooming every for 6 to 8 weeks is also very important to keep a healthy coat and clipped nails.
Temperament
This self-assured, intelligent breed is a combination of charming looks and adventurous terrier spirit. This breed can certainly show a wide range of personalities from cuddly and perky and wanting nothing more than to adoringly follow in their families everywhere, to an outgoing and sometimes mischievous temperament. Early socialization and training will make for a well-rounded addition to your family. But be careful not to spoil them to much as they can encourage them to form bad behaviors.
Family and Companionship
These elegant dogs are very affectionate towards their owners and families as one would expect from a companion dog, but true to their terrier heritage, they're sometimes suspicious of strangers, and will bark at strange sounds and intruders. They require lots of attention and time with their family. It is best not to leave them for long hours as they will become quite anxious and yappy. Because of their small size they will do best with older children unless supervised during play time with younger children.
Exercise
Daily exercise will help your Yorkie release pent-up energy, maintain muscles, keep the heart healthy, keeps the metabolism working efficiently and intense that they are panting. A moderate walk twice a day is perfect. These dogs like routine, so ideally one in the morning and one in the evening.
Training and Socialization
These puppies respond best to repetition, praise and plenty of positive reinforcement. They are very in tune with the trainer and the challenges of training as they are driven by the mental stimulation. Early socialization is equally important as it offers the opportunity to become accustomed to people, other dogs and traffic. It also provides this curious pup with mental stimulation by way of sight, scent, sound, which aids in the training process.

We had been searching for Yorkie for some time and then stumbled upon Premier Pets. I fell in love with Twinkle's face. She reminded me so much of my beloved Sadie who had passed away months before. Our other Yorkie Harley had been very lonely. I was a little leery about having her shipped to NJ, but Premier Pets put my mind at ease and on April 10th we met our new furry baby at the airport. She was beautiful! And in perfect health! She was very tiny, but as you can see she's growing fast. She loves her big sister and her big sister loves her! Thank you Premier Pets for making this so easy and thank you for all the follow up calls after she arrived. We are in love with this sweet little girl!

Last August we bought our first puppy ever together as a family, Peanut ( Teacup Yorkie) and then we came back 8 months later and we bought our littlest one Buddy( Micro Teacup Yorkie) yesterday. I am so so happy when i tell you honestly how very Pleased i am with them. They are the REAL thing. In the very beginning when we were purchasing Peanut, we were so nervous not only for her size but also the responsibility that comes with it, and lets not talk about all of the scams out there. When i tell you that Premiere Pups from Ohio is the real thing, I mean it. Both puppies came to me Happy and Healthy, Both puppies eat so well and are so playful. All they want to do is eat, play, and then sleep due to how active they are. The staff are so friendly and professional and answered all of our questions anytime we needed them to. Please believe me when i say that they are the real thing and really do care about their puppies health and happiness. My family is so so happy and thankful to all of the staff that were a part of this, because i know how much these two puppies mean to our lives, especially to my two kids and I will NEVER purchase from anyone but them and i really hope that you will do the same.

Belle has been absolutely wonderful. 2 years later and we are still so happy. Premier pups staff was just amazing. Belle came to us on an airplane. She looked very well taken care and was in a very nice crate with toys a blanket and supplies. . I couldn’t imagine purchasing another pet from anyone else! 2 years later and we are still thrilled! My family & I adopted our Yorkie-Lorenzo, 5 years ago, and our Maltese-Gio, last March. They have brought so much joy into our lives (and becoming the best of buds.) I adopted Alexander Graham Bell my prescious Teacup Yorkie from PremierPups.com almost fourteen months ago when he was exactly eight weeks old and 1 lb 11oz. The staff and their affiliates were awesome during the adoption process and the following five weeks afterwards. Alexander was guaranteed to stay at 3.5lbs as an adult. To this day he is 3.57 lbs (he LOVES ground turkey) ?? This company definitely honors their guarantee and I would NEVER adopt from anywhere else. There are so many wonderful things to say... We absolutely love our Bella, formerly Goldie. She will turn 3 years old this January 19th, 2016. She is a perfect addition to our family and greets everyone with her bone when they come in the house. She loves to be outside and was quite amused playing in the snow for the first time. She loves the car and travels with us everywhere we go, from the cabin in WI to seeing Grandma and the other residents at the nursing home. She is a very big hit with the ladies at the home!!! She is great with the grandkids and makes sure she cleans up any snacks they might drop on the floor. We always say she can't handle her licker because her tongue is always liking someone or something. I can not thank Premier Pups enough for allowing me to buy my sweet Bella.
