The Miniature Bernedoodle is a beautiful crossbreed between the Miniature Poodle and the Bernese Mountain dog, both originated from France and Switzerland respectively. One look at this breed and you may think it was bred for its striking physical appearance; contrary to this, the Mini Bernedoodle was actually bred for its low shedding capability as this makes it a tad hypoallergenic and suitable for dog lovers with allergies. They are very intelligent, playful, affectionate and a bit shy.
- A first generation, known as F1 is a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog cross bred with a Miniature Poodle.
- The second generation, known as F1B is an F1 cross bred with a Miniature Poodle.
- The third generation, known as F2, is when a puppy has two Mini Bernadoodle parents.
Appearance and Grooming
These puppies have a low to non-shedding coat that makes them an ideal breed for people with allergies. Its coat that comes in various mixes of black, white and brown, is similar to its parent the Bernese Mountain Dog which, is generally straight to wavy and requires regular maintainence to avoid tangles and knots. Its teeth need to be brushed once per week and its nails trimmed once per month. Shedding is minimal for the most part.
The Miniature Bernedoodle tends to be more active than the larger Bernedoodle breeds due to the toy or miniature poodle being more of an active breed. Its highly-affectionate and loving personality makes it a less suitable guard dog as it becomes friends with every stranger.
Family and Companionship
This is an ideal dog for anyone that is looking for companionship as it suits everyone. They are extremely child friendly and do very well with other family pets. Though they are happy at home they exhibit shyness, so regular socialization and exercise is encouraged.
When your puppy gets to be fully grown it will need at least an hour of exercise every day. This is best divided between walks and play. Because of its long and thick coat it is very easy for these dogs to become quickly overheated. When temperatures are warm, be sure to find a cool shaded place to exercise your pup. If you want to take your puppy hiking or swimming, it will gladly join you. After all, it has a mountain dog as a parent, so it will feel at ease exploring the outdoors together with its owner.
Training and Socialization
Both the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle are two very clever dog breeds. So, you can expect for the Mini Bernedoodle to be just as intelligent as its parents making training a simple process. Keep in mind that your puppy can also exhibit a strong willed and stubborn persona, so patience is expected. Starting socialization and consistent training at an early age will ensure a well-mannered and educated companion.

We’ve had a fantastic experience with Premier thus far, and our little bernedoodle Doug couldn’t be better!
We picked up our first mini bernedoodle, Cooper, from Premier Pups back in November (dog pictured on the right). He fit perfectly into our family and had an awesome temperament! This was especially evident with our two young children! We noticed quickly he was very playful and social and loved meeting/playing with dogs in our neighborhood. We tossed around the idea of getting him a puppy friend and one day I was browsing Premier Pup’s webpage and saw Dex. I knew he was the one! We went and picked him up on May 24th. We named him Toby and couldn’t wait to bring him home to meet Cooper! They were instant buddies and it has been so neat to watch them together. We absolutely love our mini bernedoodles and have had TWO very positive experiences at Premier Pups! I’d like to personally thank Andrew for being so personable and helpful at our most recent visit to Premier Pups!
We could not be happier with our Premier Pups experience! Their communication throughout the puppy picking process was attentive and detailed. We chose to have our little Howie arrive by Premier Pup's transportation, which we were hesitant about. We were kept informed every step of the way of Howie's trip to us. He arrived in a spotless van, crates were clean, newspapers on the bottom of the crates were clean, no odor, nothing. Howie arrived with his own package. He was scanned and his package was barcoded and scanned to ensure we received the right meds and food. Detailed instructions were included with meds. The followed up with us a few times to see if we had any questions. I also called them to ask a question and they were so helpful. Howie is now a happy, healthy one year old pup. He has a sweet wonderful personality. We are happy to write this review and recommend Premier Pups!
Tilly (formerly Sedona) has been a wonderful addition to our family. I can’t thank everyone enough from Premier Pups for such a smooth transition. From Lacie going above and beyond on her days off to text me with figuring out flights to the rest of the staff continuing to check in with me. They are absolutely wonderful! We love our little Tilly bean ?? Thank you Premier Pups!!
After 10 years of our cockapoo Fozzie Bear being an only fur-child, we decided it was time to start the hunt to find her a little sister! We fell in love with the breed of mini bernedoodles and started our search for our new puppy! After a few dead ends and lots of frustration, we stumbled across premier pups. Our extensive research as well as a couple of conversations with prior customers, validated that this was the place for us. As soon as we expressed interest in yogi, then known as bombay, premier pups was incredibly responsive in giving us a comprehensive understanding about the process, the puppy and more. Any time we had a question, and trust us - we had lots, they were so kind and helpful and made sure we were fully in the know. When it came time to have her transported to us, they did so with care, and she arrived safely and healthy. After her arrival, they checked in on us many times to make sure she was doing well! We cannot recommend them enough. Thank you premier pups!!!
We were nervous to buy a pup online, but our experience was fantastic. Premier Pups answered the phone every time I called both before and after her flight. Rosie contracted a little cough after her flight and PP responded promptly to my concerns and had already sent her all meds needed. When I took her to the vet, she got a clean bill of health and our vet was impressed with the dewormers that were sent. Rosie was obviously well socialized before we got her. She does not frighten easily around my children, slept in her crate from the first night with no problems, goes everywhere with us and is just a super sweet, healthy pup. When we are ready for another dog, we will use Premier Pups again.
I knew I wanted a mini Berne Doodle, with a Google search came his picture from Premier Pups, it was love at first sight. We called to get information and Troy was very helpful in answering all our questions. Immediately we felt comfortable with Premier Pups and a few days later we picked up our Bernie and he is a happy, healthy, friendly puppy. The staff updated us on his care and vaccinations and provided the needed supplies for the trip home. We love our little Bernie and appreciate the attention and service provided by Premier Pups. This is wrigley born 12/1/2019 (aka Henry). He arrived via plane to our home the beginning of February prior to Covid (thank goodness!).. Wrigley is a F1B mini bernedoodle. He is almost 8 months now and has grown from 6.5 pounds to 20 pounds. He is twice the size of our previous dog a maltipoo. We were concerned about size but totally love his size! He is tall and love hoe he flops on the floor with his feet hanging out the back! This breed is so smart as his trainer has pointed out in his puppy school - he learns so fast! We are dealing with separation anxiety because he has had everyone at home during Covid but we will get through this! He does like to explore everything and that means don't leave small items on the floor. He is finally learning leave it command but now he just takes things like shoes to get our attention. A fabulous breed for families and I can see that he will be perfect for us because we are aging as well - wants to be with us and cuddling is priceless! No smells no shedding and coat is easy to care for....only have to bathe every 3-4 months. Oh...and he loves to watch his Chicago cubs and howls when he heats the crack of the bat and actively watches the games. Thank you premier pups for a fabulous experience choosing our new family member!
Kent born January 24(Legend) is the sweetest little puppy. He is fitting in perfectly with our family. We couldn’t be more happy. Thanks.
2 years later I still have the best dog in the entire world!! Thank you premier pups you are top notch!! Everything about my experience was perfect!! I refer to you guys often and will be a return client ??
