Special Nurturing Notice
Puppies less than 2 lbs require the special care and attention the first 2 weeks in their new home. They need to eat every 2-3 hours, starting with their arrival.
A crossbreed between the Maltese and the Yorkshire Terrier, the Morkie, also affectionately known as the Yorktese or Morkshire Terrier was first bred in the 1990’s here in the United States as a designer puppy. Since then it has gained considerable popularity for its perfect combination of intelligence and beauty. While, these dogs make for sweet, loyal and loveable pets, they can often become quite bullheaded and territorial if not properly trained early on. Prior experience with a smaller breed is recommended.
Appearance and Grooming
Though the coats tend to be soft, rather long and hypoallergenic with colors typically ranging from solid white to black and tan and every color and combination in between, it is difficult to predict each litter. The unpredictable diversity is what makes these pooches so desirable. Regardless of its coat, this crossbreed needs to be brushed several times a week to keep the coat from matting or tangling. In addition to routine brushing, regular bathing is important to keep their coat healthy and lush.
Despite their tiny size this breed makes for a spirited and intelligent pet. Its inherited sense of fearlessness and energy from its Maltese parent shines through as these dogs are easily excitable and happy to greet anybody they meet. Underneath all of that energy and sometimes mischief these dogs are true lap dogs with a truly sweet and loving nature.
Family and Companionship
It is an obedient and loyal pup and its friendly personality helps it to make fast connections. It doesn’t like to be alone and suffers when it’s not appreciated and loved. It loves to play or curl up on the couch for a nap and requires frequent human companionship. Its loyalty and devotion tends to make this devoted dog very protective of its owner and family. As an adaptable and easy going pooch and while their size makes them ideal pets for apartment dwellers, they can be a problem for your neighbors as they love to bark. When left alone, this little yapper will bark until someone comes home to be with him, which doesn’t bode well for good relationships with close neighbors. This loveable ball of fluff is perfect for an owner who can take them wherever they go.
This breed doesn’t require too much exercise. A couple of brisk walks throughout the day and some active play time will provide the exercise your puppy needs to stay healthy and fit. Morkies should never be left off leash to or unattended during outside play unless they are in a securely fenced in area. If you live in an area where birds of prey are known to roam, you must pay particular attention not to leave your pooch unattended.
Training and Socialization
It has the Yorkshire’s intelligence and therefore is easily trainable, however it can be a little bit stubborn which may require a gentle, firm and patient trainer. It is imperative for it to be properly trained at a young age. These pint size puppies have strong personality traits and think they are much larger than they actually are and as such may try to dominate their owner and smaller animals.

The Santos family experience with Kaya has been such a positive experience for the 8 of us the moment we picked her up from the airport. We didn't have to wait long for her arrival. Questions regarding her arrival prior to her arrival were answered promptly. Instructions were very detailed in our e-mail. After four months since Kaya's arrival, we continue to get calls with any questions and concerns that we may have with Premierpups which I think is awesome. We're really considering on adding another addition to the family.
We purchased our puppy in November. Every one that we had communication with at Premier Pups were very pleasant to deal with. Mr. Mickey is a grown up name for such a little guy, but he carries it well. As you see in the photo, he loves to help out on the computer. :) He's been a healthy and delightful dog and we're on the hunt for a playmate for Mr. Mickey from Premier Pups.
I made the decision to get a puppy 3 1/2 years ago and found premier pups by chance. This was the best decision I’ve ever made. Elliott is the best friend I could have ever asked for. He is full of love and follows me everywhere. He’s no longer mixed color.. he’s now my little blonde bombshell. I’ve recommended premier pups to many, and I’ll continue to do so. Might even add another puppy to our tiny family! Thank you so much guys!
We picked up Banjo (formerly Eric) on Election Day 2020. Our girls had no idea what we had gone to Ohio to do and they cried tears of joy when we surprised them. He has brought so much joy to our home and we love him so much! Premier Pups was wonderful, working with us to set up his pickup and with checking in with us for a week after his arrival home. We have already recommended PP to others! Thanks so much for helping us make special memories with our family.
I would like to thank Premier Pups for everything that they have done for us. Our puppy Dee (now Harley) is a great little puppy. Premier Pups have contacted me a few times to see how Dee was doing. Dee was only 1.5 lbs when we got her on 6 November 2017 she is now 2.1 lbs. I've already taken her to my vet and was informed that she is a very healthy puppy. This is the second puppy that my family has gotten from Premier Pups - my daughter and her family got a Tedding Bear from Premier in June 2017 and he is also a very healthy puppy I want to especially thank Kacee for asking all my texts and emails. She was always professional and never seemed to mind answering all my questions. Keep up the good work Premier Pups -
We adopted Fiona (originally named Puma) December 2, 2016 for my Birthday. I have always had larger breed dogs and wanted to change it up for the next dog I owned. I had never heard of the breed Morkie until my friend told me about them and I am so greatful they did. Fiona has been the best addition to our Family. She is full of energy and is so well behaved and extremely loving. I m amazed after just four days of having her she could sit and start doing tricks. Once she is a little bit older we will deffently be looking again at premier pups for a brother or sister for Fiona! Premier Pets were extremely helpful at answering questions and making sure their animals are healthy and on time for vaccinations/wellness appointments. We are Extremely satisfied and couldn't imagine our life with out our Cute little Morkie Fiona!
Thank you Premier Pups for the newest addition to our family. We are so in love with our new puppy. He is the most adorable puppy ever.
We were looking for a playmate for our 2YR old Maltipoo , because we had recently loss two of our other dogs. My sister came across Benji (aka:Damon) on the site and thought he would be a good fit for us. After seeing his cute little face there was no question that my husband and I wanted to bring him home. We've only had Benji a month, but it seems like he's been here forever. He is getting along fine with his two big brothers and all is well. I would definitely recommend premier pups to anyone who is interested in finding a furry friend. The staff stayed in contact with us the first two weeks after we brought Benji home to make sure he was doing ok. We truly appreciated that they were interested in his well being.
We got Benji almost two years ago, I can't not imagine being without him. He gets into things ,but he's the sweetest dog anyone can have.
We recently purchased our new fur baby Saint (Homer) in August after doing our research and reviews and we could not have been more satisfied with our addition. They provided all that was needed for a safe travel and all the meds required to ensure our baby was as healthy as possible. If your follow the directions and ensure you take your baby to your local vet to provide the full physical and stamp of approval, you will be overwhelmed with joy. It’s worth the investment if your ready for your new fur baby.
