Pomskies are a crossbreed between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. Since the first born Pomsky in 2009, this designer mixed breed has been gaining in popularity with dog lovers across the United States and throughout the world as breeders continue to achieve the perfect mix. Being a descendent of two highly active parents, Pomskies have a lot of energy and require a lot of exercise. These highly intelligent dogs make for great companions, though their double coat with longer hair means they aren't the best for dog owners with allergies.
Appearance and Grooming
The Pomsky is a small/medium-sized dog with a beautiful silky coat that many dog lovers find endearing. Though, because of their thick coat they have the tendency to shed quite a bit. Regular brushing will reduce shedding, especially during the warmer months, when shedding is at its peak. Their colors vary from white, black and grey, similar to their Husky ancestors.
They have a friendly and playful nature that requires a moderate amount of attention. They are very loyal and eager to please and therefore, don’t like to be left alone for long periods of time as they can become very bored and may show signs of aggression.
Family and Companionship
It can be hard to predict what personality characteristics a Pomeranian Husky mix will inherit, and so this breed is best suited for households made up of adults and/or older children. They have a highly energetic personality and will thrive with an active family who enjoys the outdoors. Because of their generally small size this breed is adaptable to living in an apartment or in a larger home.
These lively puppies need a lot of mental stimulation and exercise. They are an active breed that adapts well to its owners routine. They require a short to moderate walk along with active playtime each day. If given enough proper exercise, this small and mighty dog can often be athletic enough to participate in dog sports as agility, obedience and rally.
Training and Socialization
Pomskies are intelligent with a streak of independence, which may require more patience than most dogs. This can prove to be quite challenging for even the most experienced owner. Training and socialization is as important for the dog as it is its owner and should begin at a very early age.
We adopted Chomper our adorable Pomsky on August 10th! We couldn't be more excited to have such an adorable, sweet, playful, and cuddly little guy. He is simply the perfect addition to our family, and we are smitten with him. Thank you for helping us find our little guy!
This is our 9 week old puppy Gunner originally named Remy. He’s a Pomsky! We had nothing but the bed experience with Premier Pups. They gave us all information we could have needed or wanted. Every time we called or text we always got a timely response. Our puppy is super healthy and has adjusted well living in our home and is extremely good with our 3 year old daughter. We were even allowed a FaceTime call to see our puppy and know that he was actually real and not a scam. The only small complaint I would even have is that our puppy arrived at the airport over 2 hours early at least, but we were there almost 2 hours early so it wasn’t that big of a deal. I would have felt bad if the poor guy was stuck there longer than he should have been. Premier Pups is an amazing company and I have already referred multiple people. In the future when we want another dog we will be coming here again. Super appreciative of all of their help especially when our pup was throwing up they were very on top of things and told us exactly what to do to help the little guy. Thank you so much. We love our little guy and are so extremely happy!
Sky is wonderful. We picked her up from the airport in WI and she was in a great secure crate and she adjusted to our home easily. Forgot its like having a baby in the house! Matt and the premier pup team were great. THANK YOU. Kathryn.
Crimson did great flying from Ohio to Kansas. We picked him up from the airport on October 4th, 2016 and he instantly fell in love with Haven (his mommy). He had no idea he had to go to the bathroom outside when we got him but learned very easily in about a week or two. He is a very fast learner and a very smart dog. Within the first month he was almost completely housebroken, going to the door when he needed to go to the bathroom, he knew how to sit, stay, and come. He knew to stay in our yard without a leash, he learned to come inside when we said inside and never once had a chewing problem. We adopted a puppy three months after getting him so he could have a friend in the house because he loves other dogs so much and they were instantly best friends and play all day everyday together and learn from each other everyday. The size estimates we were givin were also very accurate, they estimated he would get to be about 20 lbs and he is full grown at 22 lbs. We highly recommend getting a puppy from Premier Pups. The process was easy, there were no complications and we got a beautiful, smart, and playful puppy within a week of contacting them.
We brought Remy home three years to the day today and is one of the best dogs I've ever had. it takes a little time as they are hyper when they're a puppy but once they're settled in they are a great dog. I suggest getting a pomsky from here...a great experience all around.
Love love love her!!!
I could go on and on about Premier Pups until I turn blue. See our review about Harper along with details about our experience with PP and why you should adopt through them! I didn’t want to adopt a male puppy being that we already have two female Yorkies and adopted Harper to make three. But I am so happy we did! Maverick is the cutest and fluffiest puppy ever and really loves to cuddle more than Harper. He has more of the Pomeranian features of the breed and looks like a raccoon! We are so happy to have found PP and would definitely adopt from them again! If you are looking to adopt, we definitely recommend you contact them. Thank you everyone at Premier Pups!
We are in love with this girl! Tayla is smart, cuddly, well-tempered and good with other dogs and people. Our trainer told us to give major props to premiere pups for how well she was socialized and taken care of before we got her. We had our reservations about ordering a dog online but everything was as it was shown on the website. She came with vet records and detailed care instructions which were very helpful at the beginning. Thanks so much for our fur baby!!!!
We picked up Remy 2 years ago. He's a really good tempered dog and is an amazing family dog. We recently picked up a basset hound and they love each other. Thanks again to Roger and if your looking for a pomsky, this is the place.
Lola has taken our hearts and our other dogs just love her. She's still exploring and getting used to her environment and routine but she definitely thinks she's the queen of the house. She is registered as an emotional support dog and doing wonderfully with her training. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
