The Teddy Bear is a designer hybrid that was first bred in the year 2000, from crossing a Shih Tzu and a Maltese (Mal-Shi) or in some cases from crossing a Shih Tzu and a Bichon (Shichon). They are quite popular in the United States and are highly sought after from dog breeders.

Appearance and Grooming

They have round faces with big eyes, small and flat noses, long and droopy ears and a puffy short tail. Partnered with fluffy coats, they resemble little bears. Their fur has different colors, making each of their patterns unique. The colors most common are white, brown, black, grey and yellow. Their fluffy hypoallergenic coats need to be brushed, washed and trimmed periodically.

Temperament

One of the most loyal dog breeds; they are highly affectionate with high levels of obedience. They are recognized for their gentle nature and bark only when they feel the need to alert their owner. This attribute makes them a great selection for a watch dog.

Family and Companionship

This dog will share its love and affection with each member of its family, equally.  Its sociable and friendly nature makes it a great companion for both people and other pets.  These are the perfect pet for a family who always has someone around as they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time- they thrive in the company of others.

Exercise

The Teddy Bear is not a highly active dog therefore a small daily walk along with some indoor play is adequate for their overall health.

Training and Socialization

This designer breed, although sporty and playful shows traits of stubbornness. They do extremely well at following commands and learning new tricks, as long as the owner is gentle and patient. Like many small breeds they need extra attention when it comes to potty training. Socializing your new puppy at an early age and continuing through adolescence will assure good behavior and maturity into adulthood.

I received my little teddy bear right before Christmas. She is absolutely amazing. The whole process of bringing her from Ohio to NY was great. My family loves having a pup in the house. She adorable and so loving all she wants to do is have someone rub her belly and give her kisses. I was a little worried about getting a pup without seeing her in my hands. But it was the best choice I ever made. Thanks

We lost our sweet cavalier Elvis in January and I did not think I would be ready for a long time to get another dog. Just doing research I found Premier Pups and the Teddy Bear breed and I was hooked. Never have I ever just picked a pet from a picture and I was very nervous. But her face just spoke to me and we took a chance. Everything went very smoothly, all questions answered right away. The only downside was not being able to get updated photos between 6 and 8 week period, but after it was explained why I reluctantly understood and they sent pics as soon as she got to their facility . Pick up was just as smooth! Lexi is amazing, she did great on the 7 hour car ride home, sleeps through the night, has the best personality, she is so smart, she learned sit and down the first week home! She is everything we never knew we needed and we are in love! She goes everywhere and is so well behaved! I think Elvis would approve for sure!

We picked up Maci (Gili) on 9/5. We love her so much!! We would recommend Premier Pups to anyone looking for a new fur baby to add to their family. Our local vet said she is a very healthy puppy & has even gained 3 lbs since we picked her up. We entered Maci in a dog show at our church & she won 1st place in the cutest puppy category....??????

We got our Teddy Bear over two years ago from Premier Pups and it has honestly been one of the best decisions we ever made. This company made the process very easy and we were really impressed with the follow up and after care support. Louie has brought so much love and joy to our home that we cannot imagine life without him. We are so excited to be adding a little sister Teddy Bear puppy to our family which we can't wait to bring home from Premier Pups in just a few short weeks.

We absolutely love our Teddy Bear pup. She’s incredibly healthy and the sweetest dog we have ever known. She loves playing with all my children and there’s not a mean bone in her body. Lady has truly been a blessing to our family and she makes us laugh on a daily basis. I highly recommend Premier Pups and plan to get another pup again in a year or so

Name: Lucky (aka Toby)
Breed: Teddy Bear
Client: Grandma to the puppy
Loc: Palm City, Florida

I was very skeptical, and I had major second thoughts...but I was totally wrong! Premier pups were every thing they professed to be and more! Adding a canine family member is not to be taken lightly. First a little history. My daughter and family had very sweet little Shitzu who sadly came from a puppy mill. "Doogie's" time with us was good while it lasted, even tho his health problems, typical of a puppy mill, plagued him most of his life. Never ever again would we make the mistake of getting a pup from a mill! After some deep and exhaustive research online AP/PP looked promising. These folks care deeply about the health and welfare of each puppy they place in a loving home. They are the middlemen between reputable licensed breeders and families looking for a quality puppy. AP/PP does all the vetting of breeders and their facilities so that you don't have to. They will NOT represent any breeder who does not conform to their high standards. Their reputation depends on it! 8,000+ reviews on their website confirm that. Many years of being in business confirm that. Lucky arrived wagging his tail and ready to play....no worse for wear tho he flew from Ohio. You could immediately tell that Lucky had been handled frequently and had been socialized. There is no struggle to take a shower or bath and he loves playing with the kids! There really are no words that can adequately express the quality of this organization. AP/PP are great communicators! No question is too small My daughter and I called several times before Lucky arrived...and I had "Major second thoughts" as his arrival grew closer. Each time, Mike or Matt or Ryan would talk me off the ledge! Their support did not stop after Lucky arrived. They called several times to see how the pup was adjusting, making suggestions and answering more questions. Their "after the sale" protocol is beyond impressive! Lucky's first flight was cancelled so his arrival was delayed by a day. Knowing that we had a couple of very dissappointed kids on this end, and a puppy who was in a crate ready to fly until it was cancelled..Mike took the time to bring the puppy to his family's home..giving Lucky a chance to get some exercise and play with the kids...and sent our kids a video...just to reassure them that all was well!!! Who does that? Ethical people who really care about the puppies they represent. Don't have any doubts..AP/PP are the real deal. And we thank them every time we get to enjoy our new adorable family member! AP/PP have my email and cell # if you need reassurance from a live customer!

We just love our Coco ???? We picked her up 6 weeks ago and cannot be any happier. The team at Premier Pups were professional and insured we were educated on what we needed to do to get her home and the first week at her new home. Although we had no issues, they followed up to make sure all was going well. Thank You Premier Pups!!!!

Premier Pups is an absolute lifesaver! I was able to buy a beautiful 8 week old female teddy bear puppy named Cyndi later named Snowball! We’ve had her now for a little over 2 weeks and she’s absolutely adorable! Snowball’s breed doesn’t shed, hardly ever barks, she’s extremely calm & very easy to train. I live in New Jersey which is part of the tri-state area obviously, all breeders in this area are either scam artists or so severely overly priced to the point that only rich people can afford a breed like this. My 5 & 6 year-olds both wanted a puppy. However, we live in an apartment and finding a breed that’s suitable for this type of lifestyle & home was not an easy task, after some research and a lot of reading, I discovered this breed. Unfortunately, we had a very hard time finding a reputable breeder that was able to work with my families budget & needs. Most importantly, take care of the puppy and get her to us safely with all of the love, care & medical attention that she would possibly need. Premier Pups was able to do all of this and more she arrived safely at the cargo unit at Newark international airport and we brought her home. She has been a loving part of our family ever since & an absolute dream to care for! I can’t thank Premier Pups enough they are a phenomenal amazing & Premier breeder who cares about the puppy’s & the new owner’s needs equally! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
