The Yorkshire Terrier also known to many as the Yorkie, said to have Scottish ancestry, was brought to England by breeders in the 19th century. It was originally bred and used to catch mice in clothing mills. Due to its energetic and brave temperament, it excelled at this task. Today, the Yorkie is one of the most popular and sought-after dog breeds in the United States. Its long silky coat which is usually blue and tan in color gives this puppy a unique physical appearance. These charming little dogs crave attention and are very affectionate towards humans; thus, making them the perfect addition to your family.
Appearance and Grooming
This toy sized terrier has a long, silky and soft blue and tan coat that is parted on the face and from the base of the skull to the end of the tail and hangs evenly and quite straight down each side of body. The body is neat, compact and well proportioned. An interesting fact is that their coats become lighter in color as they age. Though, shedding is minimal, their long hair requires daily brushing in effort to prevent tangles and knots. Regular grooming every for 6 to 8 weeks is also very important to keep a healthy coat and clipped nails.
This self-assured, intelligent breed is a combination of charming looks and adventurous terrier spirit. This breed can certainly show a wide range of personalities from cuddly and perky and wanting nothing more than to adoringly follow in their families everywhere, to an outgoing and sometimes mischievous temperament. Early socialization and training will make for a well-rounded addition to your family. But be careful not to spoil them to much as they can encourage them to form bad behaviors.
Family and Companionship
These elegant dogs are very affectionate towards their owners and families as one would expect from a companion dog, but true to their terrier heritage, they're sometimes suspicious of strangers, and will bark at strange sounds and intruders. They require lots of attention and time with their family. It is best not to leave them for long hours as they will become quite anxious and yappy. Because of their small size they will do best with older children unless supervised during play time with younger children.
Daily exercise will help your Yorkie release pent-up energy, maintain muscles, keep the heart healthy, keeps the metabolism working efficiently and intense that they are panting. A moderate walk twice a day is perfect. These dogs like routine, so ideally one in the morning and one in the evening.
Training and Socialization
These puppies respond best to repetition, praise and plenty of positive reinforcement. They are very in tune with the trainer and the challenges of training as they are driven by the mental stimulation. Early socialization is equally important as it offers the opportunity to become accustomed to people, other dogs and traffic. It also provides this curious pup with mental stimulation by way of sight, scent, sound, which aids in the training process.

I purchased my Teacup Yorkshire Terrier on the 10th of June. While I had a few rough days to begin with, Ryan was ALWAYS available on the phone and by video to chat with me to get me through those tough times when my Peyton was adjusting to her new environment. Since that time, she had adjusted well and is very energetic and is just a joy to the entire family. She goes everywhere with me. I take her to church, shopping and am getting ready to take her on our family vacation next month. It is very reassuring to know that you have people like Ryan who are there for you with any question you have at any time to help you along with the way! I would not hesitate to purchase another dog from Premier Pups. They are A-1 first class.
I have been monitoring Premier Pups site for a long time before finally making a pup purchase. I was very skeptical about making the online purchase and not being able to see the actual pup in person. Well, the transaction was very easy after watching the Informational videos. The pick up was very easy and professionally done. The puppy was actually the exact pup that I purchased. Chanel has been with us a week now, healthy as can be. Premier Pup Associates communicated daily, emailed weekly expectations, and made sure everything was covered to assist us with the transition. I’m very grateful and happy that I took this chance. Thank you Premier Pups!!!
We adopted Maisy (Avery) one year ago today! She was our second adoption from Premier Pups. Her sister Mila, is pictured and is a Morkie. While the experience this time was a little different due to Covid 19, it was still professional and pain free. I truly appreciate the follow up after the pups were home. They were both tiny, and we were nervous as first and then second time dog owners. Our feeding questions were answered and both pups are now full grown and healthy! They love to snuggle and play! Thank you, Premier Pups!

I purchased my puppy in July 2016. My father, daughter and I drove seven hours to pick her up and she was so worth it, she is the sweetest cutest puppy I have ever seen. We had recently lost our Pomeranian for 15 years and we couldn't asked for a better new family member then Bella. Permier pups continued to check on her during our whole travel back home, also a few weeks after our arrival. Bella is a very happy , energetic, and healthy pup, I would recommend anyone to go there and pick up their newest family member!!
Since receiving our Yorkie, on August 10,2018, the House has been full of love and happiness. He arrived with a crate, familiar toys, food and medications. He was extremely clean and had a good temperament. He adjusted easily to the home and has become a part of the family immediately! The breeder would email daily and call to check on our puppy for the first 2 weeks and offered assistance as needed. Premier pups is an excellent, reputable breeder with beautiful puppies. Our puppy is a handsome little guy and so well behaved! We love our purchase and are so thankful to have found premier pups!
My family & I adopted our Yorkie-Lorenzo, 5 years ago, and our Maltese-Gio, last March. They have brought so much joy into our lives (and becoming the best of buds.) Premier pups has always been excellent at reaching out periodically to check in on the boys. I didn't hesitate for a second to go through them again to adopt our second. Quick to respond, always available if you have any concerns, and has a very clean & welcoming facility. My pups have always been healthy and happy. I would gladly adopt a 3rd from premier pups-(if the hubs let's me) ;)
After searching locally and not being able to find a Yorkie puppy that was what we wanted, we decided to look online. We ordered a Yorkie puppy from Premier Pups. She was just what we were expecting from the online description and is such a joy. We named her Bella. She has a great temperament and is the size we were looking for. It was very refreshing to find her weight and birthdate posted online, since we had found that most local breeders were offended to be asked to weigh their puppies (since it exposes their scam of selling larger dogs for teacup prices). We weighed bella when she arrived and were so relieved to find that her weight was right in line with what was posted on Premier Pups website. We are very satisfied with our purchase and recommend buying from Premier Pups.
I got Nugget Chipperman (formerly Trigger) 3 years ago as a companion to my older Yorkie, Simba, but then decided he eventually needed a younger brother as Simba was getting a little older. So, then came Scrappy Doodles (formerly Jenkins), who is now just under 2-years-old, and since I was on a roll with having the youngsters, I decided “why not have 2 puppies since I haven’t slept in 6 months as it is?!” In came Woogie Bandit, and they are the closest pack of brothers I could ever hope for! I have no regrets at all getting any of my three boys from Premier Pups, and I’m sure in the future....far future now, as I am just starting to sleep again after Woogie just turned 1 in October....they’ll get another brother one day.
I loved my puppy, she is happy, playfully, and she is so smart. She arrived security and calm, they provide me all instructions and help me that I needed , they called me for to know if she is good, I loved they care. Thanks premier pups I am so happy with my little baby.
