Pomskies are a crossbreed between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. Since the first born Pomsky in 2009, this designer mixed breed has been gaining in popularity with dog lovers across the United States and throughout the world as breeders continue to achieve the perfect mix. Being a descendent of two highly active parents, Pomskies have a lot of energy and require a lot of exercise. These highly intelligent dogs make for great companions, though their double coat with longer hair means they aren't the best for dog owners with allergies.
Appearance and Grooming
The Pomsky is a small/medium-sized dog with a beautiful silky coat that many dog lovers find endearing. Though, because of their thick coat they have the tendency to shed quite a bit. Regular brushing will reduce shedding, especially during the warmer months, when shedding is at its peak. Their colors vary from white, black and grey, similar to their Husky ancestors.
They have a friendly and playful nature that requires a moderate amount of attention. They are very loyal and eager to please and therefore, don’t like to be left alone for long periods of time as they can become very bored and may show signs of aggression.
Family and Companionship
It can be hard to predict what personality characteristics a Pomeranian Husky mix will inherit, and so this breed is best suited for households made up of adults and/or older children. They have a highly energetic personality and will thrive with an active family who enjoys the outdoors. Because of their generally small size this breed is adaptable to living in an apartment or in a larger home.
These lively puppies need a lot of mental stimulation and exercise. They are an active breed that adapts well to its owners routine. They require a short to moderate walk along with active playtime each day. If given enough proper exercise, this small and mighty dog can often be athletic enough to participate in dog sports as agility, obedience and rally.
Training and Socialization
Pomskies are intelligent with a streak of independence, which may require more patience than most dogs. This can prove to be quite challenging for even the most experienced owner. Training and socialization is as important for the dog as it is its owner and should begin at a very early age.
We wanted to update you on Atka on her first birthday. Atka is a 13lb ball of energy and fur. She enjoys going to doggie daycare, her training classes, the dog park, and anything that involves playing with her family, or cats, and other dogs. Atka hopes to start agility classes soon. She is such a funny puppy. She loves wearing clothes and will bring her outfits to you to put them on. She lets you know it's time to play by bringing her toys to you and trying to put them in thir hands. If that doesn't work, she picks them up in her mouth and throws them at you. She enjoys watching the Royals play and hopes to make it to Bark at The Park this year. Atka is so fun and loving and we just can't imagine our lives without her! Thank you for our baby!
Last year I had an early Christmas present and he went by the name JR. It was love at first sight! He is a very activate puppy, super curious , smart and loves going for walks, playing with all of his toys and his dog friends. I renamed him Cas and he brings me so much joy and happiest each day! I remember I was really skeptical about ordering him online and hundreds of things could have went wrong but honestly everything went really smoothly. He was a happy and healthy puppy, it was a long journey to California but he is at his forever home and he is happy.
Love love love her!!!
We had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for 14 years and when he passed away this November, we felt like something was missing in our family after a while we decided it was time for a new furry friend. I had heard about the Pomsky breed before but could not find any breeders in New York where we live. I heard about Premier pups and we fell in love with a little Pomsky girl named Ava (now Harley Quinn). We were nervous at first to have her flown from Ohio but after speaking to someone from premier pups on the phone, we knew she would be well taken care of. We got our baby girl as soon as she turned 8 weeks old and we could not be happier!! She is the sweetest, most adorable little pup and she has such a spunky personality! She is so playful and energetic. Everyone in my family is so in love with her!! Thank you premier pups!
We picked up Remy 2 years ago. He's a really good tempered dog and is an amazing family dog. We recently picked up a basset hound and they love each other. Thanks again to Roger and if your looking for a pomsky, this is the place.
In love with our new little boy!!! Thanks premier pups!
Where to begin...we’ll, I wanted a Husky and my husband wanted a smaller dog. We agreed a Pomsky was a perfect combination since I wanted him to be sturdy enough to be a good hiker and run with me. We looked at the many websites with pictures of cute Pomsky’s and found out they are still pretty rare and there was nothing super “local”. We watched the ads, looked at the reviews, and kept coming back to Premiere Pups. Not only did they have the best looking puppies, they had excellent reviews. My husband pointed out Moss on a Friday night, and I probably looked at his picture 30 times before biting the bullet and just putting in my credit card number. I was nervous because I have friends who are breeders that warned me about all the scams and puppy mills out there. Buying from a broker is not what they are about, and my “designer dog is an overpriced mutt” to them. Whatever, I love, love, LOVE what they call an overpriced mutt not recognized by the AKC. I called PP slightly hysterical one morning after a colleagues begged me to reconsider my purchase. Kacee calmly talked me down from the ceiling and got one of the staff to send me current photo and video of my pup when he went to check on him at the breeders the next day. He was 100% the dog we saw in the photos, well cared for, and looked happy and healthy just like in the photo! I think we called PP five or six times before Koda arrived, they were always informative, patient, and did what they said they were going to do. Kacee, I cannot thank you personally enough, you were my angel. Now, about Koda...he arrived at the airport in his little zip tied crate. The lady at the airport cut the zip ties and I opened the door and saw those blue eyes looking at me. It was love at first sight. I waited for him to step out so that I wouldn’t scare him. He gave me a quick little lick, was the softest puppy I’d ever felt and walked out into the bark and tree area to go potty. We headed home where he snuggled me the hour long drive back home. We met our chihuahua on neutral territory before bringing our new puppy inti to the house. . They chased each other around and aside from Koda having more playful puppy energy than our 3 year old chihuahua, they have developed a cute little bond. Koda came to us clean, well socialized, and we both agree, the smartest pup we have ever owned! He cried in his kennel the first night, of course I kept bringing him into my bed to assure him...but now sleeps through the night completely content. I took a week off work, my “pupternity leave” and helped him adjust. This is day 11 that I am writing this by the way. He has learned how to use the dog door to go potty outside, eating well, taking walks on his leash with us, a talkative happy pup and just a joy to everyone he meets! His vet took him in back to meet more of the staff and they admitted to taking selfies with him! HA! His vet check went fantastic. Thank you Premiere Pups, truly! I am over the moon about this boy and would absolutely tell my friends to feel comfortable purchasing their fur baby from you. Jennifer Sloniker
We picked Maddux up Fall of 2018. He is our first family dog and we couldn’t be happier. It took 19 years to talk my husband into getting a puppy. I started looking at Pomskys and showing him pictures and he started to soften to the idea. I was on this site scrolling through pictures and came across a little puppy named Flint. He said that is the cutest puppy and after a couple of days, we had ourselves a puppy. We had some confusion at the time of pickup but the staff did everything they could to make it right. Maddux is an amazing dog and he fits in perfectly with the family! I would recommend Premier Pups. The only regret is that didn’t ask for pictures of his parents.
I was living in Austin Texas when I got her, her name was Destiny. She was sent to San Antonio airport for me to pick her up. I remember walking up to the Delta desk, the guy was in front of her cage filling out paper work on her. He turned around and looked at me, I looked at her and was so happy I cried. He then knew I was there for her. Her name was Destiny, and I feel like that is appropriate because I think it is destiny that brought us together. I renamed her, but kept part of it. She will turn two tomorrow, and I love her more and more every day!
