The Teddy Bear is a designer hybrid that was first bred in the year 2000, from crossing a Shih Tzu and a Maltese (Mal-Shi) or in some cases from crossing a Shih Tzu and a Bichon (Shichon). They are quite popular in the United States and are highly sought after from dog breeders.

Appearance and Grooming

They have round faces with big eyes, small and flat noses, long and droopy ears and a puffy short tail. Partnered with fluffy coats, they resemble little bears. Their fur has different colors, making each of their patterns unique. The colors most common are white, brown, black, grey and yellow. Their fluffy hypoallergenic coats need to be brushed, washed and trimmed periodically.

Temperament

One of the most loyal dog breeds; they are highly affectionate with high levels of obedience. They are recognized for their gentle nature and bark only when they feel the need to alert their owner. This attribute makes them a great selection for a watch dog.

Family and Companionship

This dog will share its love and affection with each member of its family, equally.  Its sociable and friendly nature makes it a great companion for both people and other pets.  These are the perfect pet for a family who always has someone around as they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time- they thrive in the company of others.

Exercise

The Teddy Bear is not a highly active dog therefore a small daily walk along with some indoor play is adequate for their overall health.

Training and Socialization

This designer breed, although sporty and playful shows traits of stubbornness. They do extremely well at following commands and learning new tricks, as long as the owner is gentle and patient. Like many small breeds they need extra attention when it comes to potty training. Socializing your new puppy at an early age and continuing through adolescence will assure good behavior and maturity into adulthood.

TEDDY BEAR

Name: Charlie Blue
Breed: Teddy Bear
Client: Leemor
Loc: New York, NY

I was so skeptical to buy a puppy online without even meeting him before the purchase. I researched the breeder and spoke to Premier Puppies over the phone. I also researched the breed to see if it would be a good fit for my lifestyle. After speaking with them over the phone and asking a lot of questions, I felt more comfortable with the purchase and decided to go through with it. I have had Charlie Blue for almost 4 months and I couldn't be happier. He is the sweetest, smartest, adaptable little thing, with great energy, and I get a lot of compliments all the time! Couldn't be happier with my purchase and couldn't imagine life now without him.

Premier pups was great in handling all the questions you have for your new puppy. Our pup came just today and he is so excited for his new journey at with his new family. Also he was quickly given to us at the Delta Cargo Facility. We can tell premier gave good care and attention to the dogs physically, and with the guidelines and instructions. Thanks premier for our new funny, excited little teddy bear pup.

Name: Moose
Breed: Teddy Bear
Client: Andrea Oliver
Loc: PA

We got Moose (previously known as Abbott) from a friend who actually got him from Premier Pups. Moose is such a good boy, he is very sweet and adorable. He is also a healthy dog, we are really pleased with his health conditions. That’s one of the reasons we got another puppy from Premier Pups (which I will post a review soon as well)

Name: Stanley
Breed: Teddy Bear
Client: Whitney
Loc: Detroit, Mi

I drove to Ohio almost 2 years ago to the day to adopt Stanley. I was nervous about what type of facility these dogs would be in and the care that they would have received. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to a beautiful home that was clean, inviting, and a wonderful environment. Over the last 2 years, Stanley has been the absolute best dog and my entire world! I am so happy that I found Premier Pups that lead me to my forever best friend. He has not had any health issues. I am looking into getting another puppy and would absolutely recommend Premier Pups for anyone looking for a new family member!

Date: 2/17/2016
Name: Mushu aka Mushipoo (purchased as Aiden)
Breed: Teddy Bear
Client: Chelsea Coartney
Loc: Anchorage, Alaska

I just got Mushu 2 days ago. I can tell you I was probably the most impatient customer Premier Pets ever had. I purchased Mushu as a presale pup and he wasnt available for a week after I purchased him, which was totally my fault. The staff at Premier pets went above and beyond and sent me videos and even tried to get him on a Sunday flight to Alaska. I dealt with Margot, Anthony, and Matthew. As soon as Mushu was shipped to me I refreshed his flight status every 5 minutes. I was so anxious for him to arrive. Just like any puppy owner, i was concerned for his health and his temperment. For the first few minutes he was shaking becuase he was scared (and probably cold) but after that, he was running around with our goldendoodle like he owned the place. You can tell Mushu was a happy puppy! Its only day 2 and hes already potty trained. Ive already recommended Premier pups to my friends who are planning to purchase a pup from them this week! Thank you to the Premier pups staff who sent us our new family member! and also a side note for all you people who think Premier pup uses puppy mills, I highly doubt it becase theres no way a puppy like Mushu comes from a puppy mill, he's way to happy and chubby haha. I would assume a puppy from a mill would be scared, shy, and sad looking. which is completely opposite then Mushu. I honestly have no idea how the staff doesnt want to take home all the puppies... Thank You!-Chelsea from Alaska

Date: 5/25/2018
Name: Bernard
Breed: Teddy Bear
Client: Dumond
Loc: Rochester, MA

I have always wanted a small puppy that looked like a teddy bear. I saw this cute little puppy on Premier Pups website and finally took the plunge. The moment we picked him up at the airport we were in love. He has been the greatest addition to our family. He loves playing with our other dogs. They're all much bigger. We have a mastiff/pitbull, pitbull and a very very old cockerspaniel. Bernard loves to play with them. He's the littlest dog in the family with the biggest personality. I would recommend Premier Pup to anyone. Bernard was healthy when we picked him up at the airport. We followed the instructions giving, brought him to the vet the day after we picked him up. He was perfect and has been since. They truly care and want the best for their pups. They called daily to check on him the first couple of weeks. I'll admit that we weren't very responsive because of work and things but it was nice to know they cared so much. We got this adorable pup at 8 weeks, he is now almost 6 months old. We could not love him more. His personality is the best. He's loving, playful and yet independent. He is definitely hyper at times and snuggly other times. He has the cutest face and the best personality. He is protective of those he loves, human or animal. I could not be happier with the quality and service of Premier Pup. I would and have recommended Premier Pups to family and friends. Thank you Premier Pups!! ??
