Puppies less than 2 lbs require the special care and attention the first 2 weeks in their new home. They need to eat every 2-3 hours, starting with their arrival.

Named after the region of Pomerania in Germany, also commonly known as the Pom or Pom Pom was first recognized as a descendent of the Wolfspitz breed.  They originally were larger and were used as sheep herders. It became a popular breed in England in the 1800 year, when Queen Victoria adopted one. Its size has reduced and the fur grew more, it became a small puppy with a smiling foxy look, a real toy dog. This puppy was first recognized by the AKC in 1888 and it was perceived as a watchdog, with agility and performing tricks. It has since become one of the most sought after breeds here in the United States.

Appearance and Grooming

They are small, toy-sized dog with wedge-shaped head, almond-shaped dark eyes and tiny and raised ears, sharp pot and long tail carried on the back. The short muzzle is straight and fine. The color of the nose varies with coat color. The coat is longer around the neck and chest area. It can have a variety of coat colors and patterns including red, orange, white, cream, blue, brown, black, black and tan, wolf sable, brindle and white with different colors. With a cottony undercoat regular daily brushing is important to minimize the amount of shedding and tangles.

Temperament

This is a very intelligent dog that has an eagerness to learn and shows strong loyalty to its owner and family. It has a docile and affectionate temperament and yet will be playful and energetic when enticed. It shows off its bravery often with strangers, as it will bark at them excessively.

Family and Companionship

They are highly extroverted dogs and love being in the midst of new people and try to make friends with everyone they meet. They do extremely well with children and other pets as they are highly sociable animals. They are also very protective of their owners and they respond very well to training and mental exercises. Due to their size, they prefer being inside than outside. They are well-suited for a large home or apartment life and crave human companionship more than anything else.

Exercise

Routine exercise is necessary for the health and wellness of these high energy level pooches. Daily walks and frequent play will keep you puppy occupied and fit. Don’t be afraid of long walks with this one as their strong levels of endurance can carry them up to 5 miles and sometimes even more.

Training and Socialization

Known to become aggressive if not properly trained, these dogs need a firm yet gentle trainer. Though quick learners who are good at learning tricks, primary focus should be on obedience and barking as these tiny pups tend to see themselves as the boss and become incessant barkers. Socialization is equally as important as their extroverted and inquisitive nature must be met in effort to keep your pup happy and well mannered.

After tirelessly looking for a legitimate place to adopt a Pomeranian, I came across Premier Pups and I’m so happy I did! I laid my eyes on Ebony now Tulip and I knew she was mine! She is beautiful and sweet and loves her older German Shepherd sister Rose! Everyone was so helpful and the entire process was an absolute dream. The entire staff made this scary process so stress free and seamless, I will definitely use Premier Pups in the future and recommend them to everyone looking for a healthy pup!

Name: Kona
Breed: Pomeranian
Client: Theresa Parisher
Loc: San Diego, CA

We got Kona (chocolate) and Pebbles in Nov 2018 from Premier Pups. I would have loved to have been able to get more information about their parents (they weren’t from the same litter but apparently the same breeder?) but after falling in love with both of them from the videos that were sent to us and researching them with the BBB (A+ rating) we decided it wouldn’t have changed our mind about getting them. These two cuties quickly became part of our family and loved by all. Our precious Kona was recently hit by a car and is no longer with us :( and while we could never replace him we are looking on Premier Pups to find a new best friend for all of us and to fill the huge hole he left in our hearts.

Name: Niko
Breed: Pomeranian
Client: Mona
Loc: Aldie, VA

This review is overdue, but I got Niko about 2 years ago. He’s a mischievous little guy and I love him to bits. I still remember the day I picked him up from the airport, it didn’t take long for him to open up to me and my family. He’s a little flirt and steals everyone’s heart on the first meeting. Super friendly to all ages and just wants to give everyone kisses. His size did surprise me, he is 20 lb, and I’m not talking about overweight, he’s a big Pomeranian (throwback Pomeranian maybe? You won’t know it until your dog has turned one), but I wouldn’t have him any other way. Premier Pups delivered excellent and genuine care to Niko and I. They made sure Niko was flown safely to me, and followed up several times over the course of the next few weeks of getting him to make sure we were doing well. I have certainly recommended my friends when they’ve been looking to add a small fur baby to their family and will continue to do so in the future.

Name: Louis
Breed: Pomeranian
Client: Dana
Loc: Arizona

Our new puppy “Louis” (I love Louis Vuitton and collect them, I knew someday I would have a Pomeranian named Louis) formerly Daphne is doing great, she is active, alert, playful and has been doing really well with adjusting to her new family and home. She is getting the pad training skills down like a champ We live in a large white modern farmhouse on 5 acres in the middle of the cotton fields. I found a small white barn crate that matches our home- which she loves. Last night I called into premiere pups about a question I had regarding administering meds (the puppy was not eating her food when I mixed the medication with it, causing her to reject her food). The young lady I talked to from PP advised me to give Louis the medicine with the syringe directly into her mouth. She is eating her food and with some careful syringe placement into her mouth, she is taking her medication just fine now. She is a delight and we can not get enough of her. She is well adjusted to her new home and loves the grandkids (careful supervision and lots of hand washing of course), she thinks her friends have come to play. Everyone thinks she is the cutest puppy/dog they have ever seen (at the drive up window employees come from the back to get a peek at her, on the plane she was the talk of the flight (kept her with me, just let everyone catch a Glimpse of her), Family and friends all express how they want her or at least one like her. Everyone wants to know how I found her, so I have been giving out Premier Pup’s contact information like crazy. Our experience with Premier Pups has been fantastic, from easy to navigate website, accurate photos of the puppy, a straight forward buying process, helpful videos, care and consideration of the Health and well being of the puppy, PupDoctor access, Micro chipping, Vet check with take home meds, follow up calls and emails, health and emergency numbers (with real people that answer the calls), The staff are friendly and answered all my questions, to the most adorable-sweetest.-little puppy. The Premier Pups premises is stunning and immaculate. Just Top Notch! Thanks again for a wonderful experience.. We love our Louis girl!??

Name: Boba and Loki (formerly Nano and Ike, respectfully)
Breed: Pomeranian
Client: Ruby
Loc: Ohio

We absolutely fell in love with them when we laid eyes on them. We got them a month apart and they immediately became best friends. They both have different personalities and so playful. PremierPups has been the best we’ve worked with on adopting puppies. We were hesitant at first, but they have been in contact with us before we got the puppies and checking in on them when they’re adjusting to their new home. We felt really comfortable, love how caring they are, and how they are available when we needed help. 5 stars across the board, highly recommend adopting from them <3

My daughter, Amanda purchased a puppy from Premier Pups in September 2016. I can honestly say that from the start of the process to the end of the process it was a great experience. Mike (the owner) was awesome and very knowledgeable and guided us through each process. Mike was always available to answer any questions that my daughter had as well as myself. I would highly recommend this company if you are in search of a puppy. Minnie has brought us so much joy and she is so much fun!
