Mini Aussiedoodle Breed Information

Grooming

The Mini Aussiedoodle sheds very little, is considered a hypoallergenic dog, and does not have high grooming needs. Grooming them involves occasional brushing of the coat, nail clipping, and a haircut every now and then. Ideally, you should brush your Mini Aussiedoodle’s coat every other day to help your dog’s hair remain smooth and tangle-free. Matting can be a common occurrence for Mini Aussiedoodle adults so this step should not be avoided. Although they are low-shedding dogs, brushing their coats is still an essential step in Mini Aussiedoodle grooming.  

Trimming your dog’s nails is also important, as overgrown nails can cause damage to the nail bed and cause pain, inflammation, and even infection. Mini Aussiedoodles are energetic dogs that might file their nails down on their own, but in case they don’t, it is recommended to clip them when they start to make clicking noises as they step.  

Your dog will also need to have its ears checked for bad odor or rashes and cleaned regularly with a damp cloth. Do not try to insert anything in your dog’s ear unless recommended by your veterinarian. Ideally, you should clean the outer part of your dog’s ear and pluck any excess hair that stands out from the ear canal every week or so. 

Like all dogs, adult Mini Aussiedoodles are prone to dental issues. It is recommended to brush their teeth regularly, daily if possible, and provide them with plenty of chew toys and dental sticks.

Exercise Needs

Mini Aussiedoodles are generally energetic dogs. Their energy level matches that of their parents, which is most often high. They love to run around, play, chase, swim, hike, and take part in any fun outdoor activities. They like to spend their energy with games of fetch, Frisbee, and tag. They need about an hour of daily walks and some active playtime indoors to keep them happy, healthy, and in their best shape.  Mini Aussipoos fit well with more active dog owners.

Health

Mini Aussiedoodles are a healthy dog breed. As a first-generation crossbreed, these puppies are less likely to develop any conditions that are common in Poodles and Mini Australian Shepherds. Poodles and Mini Aussies can suffer from allergies, cataracts, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, or thyroid issues. Although these conditions are very rare among Mini Aussiedoodles, it’s always best to be aware of them. Regular vet checks will ensure that any possible condition is caught early on and treated accordingly.

Lifespan

12 to 15 years is the common Mini Aussiedoodle lifespan, although there have been several Mini Aussiepoos that exceeded their life expectancy. We recommend that you raise your Mini Aussiedoodle puppy in a warm environment and provide a good diet and plenty of exercise. 

Training

Mini Aussiedoodles are highly intelligent and easy to train. They are eager learners, pick up on tricks quickly, and love to be mentally stimulated. Mini Aussiedoodles are Einstein Dogs. Whether it’s basic canine trick and command training or rocket science, they can handle it. The Australian Shepherd and the miniature Poodle along with the Mini Aussiedoodle puppies are all equals when it comes to intelligence and responsiveness to training. 

Training these puppies shouldn’t be a challenge as they like to do most of the work themselves. They are eager learners but also big fans of praise, encouragement, and treats. Positive reinforcement works well when training them, as do reward-based training methods. You can begin training your puppy as early as 8 weeks, teaching them basic dog commands like sit, come, and wait. 12 weeks is the ideal age for your Mini Aussiedoodle puppy to be taught more advanced lessons.  

Leash training and socializing Mini Aussiedoodles are both easy tasks. These dogs love to make friends, explore, and interact with everyone in their path. They are social, friendly, and well-mannered. When you begin socializing your puppy, make sure to approach this lesson with patience. Find a low-distraction area where your puppy is comfortable during the day and introduce your Mini Aussiedoodle to family members or other pets in the house in a gentle manner. However, make sure that your puppy is comfortable with meeting others before you proceed to socialization training outdoors.  

Mini Aussiedoodles are independent and quiet dogs. They are not prone to separation anxiety and are not overly vocal when left alone. However, it is recommended that they are not left alone for long periods of time.
