Doodle Dogs Explained – Part 2

Doodle Dogs Explained Part 2 – Mini Doodles – Premier Pups
Published Friday, January 14, 2022 by Premier Pups Team

In Part 1 of Doodle Breeds Explained, we discussed what Doodle Breeds are and why they are as popular as they are. We also answered a few questions about the Cockapoo, Cavapoo, Havapoo, and Maltipoo breeds. Now, it’s time to talk about the world’s favorite Mini Doodle Breeds.

What is a Mini Doodle?

A Mini Doodle is a hybrid breed of a large or medium-sized dog crossed with a Miniature Poodle. They are the Miniature versions of Aussiedoodles, Bernedoodles, Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Portidoodles, and Sheepadoodles. Mini Doodle puppies, like their larger counterparts, inherit all the best qualities their parents have to offer. They are hypoallergenic, smart, playful, non-aggressive, and completely gorgeous. Mini Doodle breeds are an excellent choice for people with allergies, first-time dog owners, families, and those living in small city apartments.

What is a Mini Aussiedoodle?

Mini Aussiedoodle with wavy coat

The Mini Aussiedoodle breed is a mix of a purebred Mini Australian Shepherd and a purebred Miniature Poodle. Like their parents, Mini Aussiedoodle dogs are brilliantly smart. The Australian Shepherd and the Poodle are two of the world’s smartest dog breeds, and since Mini Aussiedoodle puppies take after them, you can expect excellent results in training and obedience.

Are Mini Aussiedoodles hypoallergenic?

Although the Mini Australian Shepherd breed sheds occasionally, the Mini Aussiedoodle puppies are more likely to inherit the Poodle’s curly, non-shedding coat or a combination of coat textures and qualities from both parents. As such, Mini Aussiedoodles are semi-hypoallergenic if their coats are a combination of wavy and curly, and more hypoallergenic if they are entirely curly like their Poodle parent.

How big do Mini Aussiedoodles get?

Since they are a mix of two Miniature breeds, the Mini Aussiedoodles don’t grow to big statures. Generally, a full grown Mini Aussiedoodle weighs 15 to 35 pounds and has a height of 12 to 18 inches. The most common Mini Aussiedoodle size is 14 inches and 20 pounds.

Our Mini Aussiedoodle puppies are just as beautiful in personality as they are in looks. They are adventurous, energetic, fond of dog sports and games, sociable, and very loyal. The cute Mini Aussiedoodle puppies are a wonderful fit for active folks who love to spend a lot of time outdoors enjoying activities like hiking, swimming, or going on long walks or runs.

What is a Mini Bernedoodle?

Fluffy Mini Bernedoodle

The Mini Bernedoodle breed is a hybrid mix of a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and a purebred Miniature Poodle. Compared to standard Bernedoodles, Mini Bernedoodles are much smaller and quite a bit easier to manage. Mini Bernedoodles are as cuddly as they are fluffy. These dogs are family-oriented and want nothing more than to be surrounded by people. Like their Bernese Mountain Dog parent, Mini Bernedoodles are low-energy dogs that love to relax more than take part in tiring activities.

Are Mini Bernedoodles hypoallergenic?

Mini Bernedoodles, especially F1B Mini Bernedoodles and F2 Mini Bernedoodles, have good hypoallergenic qualities. Adult Mini Bernedoodles generally have wavy-textured coats and low dander. They are known to be good for owners with mild pet-related allergies, but it is always best to test allergic reactions before adopting a puppy.

How big do Mini Bernedoodles get?

Although they are not as big as standard Bernedoodles, the Mini Bernedoodles can reach up to 50 pounds and 22 inches fully grown. The Mini Bernedoodle size can be categorized as medium. F1B and F2 Mini Bernedoodles come in a much smaller size. The average size for an adult Mini Bernedoodle is 13 to 22 inches with a weight of 20 to 50 pounds.

What is a Goldendoodle?

Friendly Mini Goldendoodle

The Goldendoodle breed is a cross of a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle, while the Mini Goldendoodle breed is a mix of a Golden Retriever and a Miniature Poodle. Like most mini doodle breeds, the Mini Goldendoodle can be found in various generations. The most common Mini Goldendoodle generations are:

  • F1 Mini Goldendoodle puppies, which are the first-generation Mini Goldendoodles, are half Golden Retriever and half Miniature Poodle
  • F1B Mini Goldendoodle puppies, which are the second-generation Mini Goldendoodles, are a cross between an F1 Mini Goldendoodle and a Miniature Poodle. The F1B stands for first-generation backcross.
  • F2 Mini Goldendoodle puppies, which are the third-generation Mini Goldendoodles, are a cross between two F1B Mini Goldendoodle adults.

More on F1, F1B, and F2 breed generations.

Like its standard counterpart, the Mini Goldendoodle impresses with a combination of stunning features and personality traits from both Golden Retrievers and Mini Poodles. These dogs are friendly, smart, very playful, and great for families with children.

Are Goldendoodles hypoallergenic?

Mini Goldendoodles are hypoallergenic. Although the Golden Retriever does shed on occasion, Mini Goldendoodle puppies are not likely to inherit its coat type. Generally, Mini Goldendoodles have a wavy or curly coat, similar to that of their Poodle parent in both properties and hypoallergenic qualities. F1b and F2 Mini Goldendoodles have curlier coats and better hypoallergenic qualities. They produce less dander and are known for their low-to-non shedding coats.

How big do Goldendoodles get?

A Goldendoodle has an average height of 20 to 24 inches and weighs between 50 and 90 pounds, while its smaller counterpart, the Mini Goldendoodle, weighs between 20 and 40 pounds and can grow up to 13-22 inches tall. There are also smaller versions of the breed, such as the Teacup or Toy Goldendoodle that usually weigh less than 15 pounds.

Our Mini Goldendoodle puppies are the biggest fans of dog parks and adventures. They love being with their humans just as much as they love making new friends. These cute puppies are an excellent choice for outdoorsy owners and active families. They are energetic and fun, and they train easily.

What is a Mini Labradoodle?

Energetic Mini Labradoodle

The Mini Labradoodle is a crossbreed of a Labrador Retriever and a Mini Poodle, both purebred. Like the Labrador and the Poodle, Mini Labradoodles come with plenty of energy, adorable looks, and Einstein intelligence. These pups inherit the Labrador’s outgoing and fun nature, and the Poodle’s keen intelligence and cuddliness.

Are Mini Labradoodles hypoallergenic?

Like their Mini Goldendoodle friends, the Mini Labradoodles have good hypoallergenic qualities, especially generations like the F1b and F2 Mini Labradoodles. As a mix between one dog breed that sheds and one that does not, the first-generation Mini Labradoodles can be low-to-semi hypoallergenic depending on which of their parents they take after more. Mini Labradoodles produce less dander thanks to their Poodle genes, but they can also shed a little if they take after their Labrador parent more.

How big do Mini Labradoodles get?

Mini Labradoodles are a small-to-medium sized dog breed. These beautiful dogs can reach a height of 14 to 17 inches and a weight of 16 to 25 pounds for a full-grown Mini Labradoodle. The Mini Labradoodle size does vary quite a bit in smaller Labradoodles like the Toy, Teacup, or F1b and F2 generations.

They fit well with active owners and families with kids, as well as with new and experienced owners.

What is a Mini Portidoodle?

cute Mini Portidoodle puppy

The Mini Portidoodle is one of the rarest and newest doodle breeds around. These doodle dogs are a mix of a Portuguese Water Dog and a Miniature Poodle. Like their parents, Mini Portidoodles love water more than anything. Since the Poodle and the Portuguese Water Dog both started out as diving dogs used in fishing and hunting, they pass on their love for water to the Mini Portidoodle puppies. These water-loving dogs are friendly, sweet, and very playful. They play well with humans and pets alike, and they are incredibly fond of their owners.

Are Mini Portidoodles hypoallergenic?

As a hybrid of two non-shedding hypoallergenic dogs, the Mini Portidoodle can be considered just as hypoallergenic as its parents. Regardless of their coat type or hair length, the Mini Portidoodles are safe to be around as far as allergy-sufferers are concerned.

How big do Mini Portidoodles get?

The Mini Portidoodle size is small. Typically, these cute dogs may reach up to 10-20 inches in height and weigh an average of 14 to 28 pounds. Although they can grow to 20 inches and 28 pounds, most Mini Portidoodles don’t exceed 15 inches and 20 pounds.

Mini Portidoodle puppies are carbon-copies of their parents when it comes to personality. They are calm, sweet, gentle, and completely lovable. They get along great with children and are the biggest fans of dog games, tricks, and affection. Mini Portidoodles are generally active dogs that do well with active owners.

What is a Mini Sheepadoodle?

Fluffy Mini Sheepadoodle cross between Old English Sheepdog and Miniature Poodle

The Mini Sheepadoodle breed is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Miniature Poodle. Like the Bernese Mountain Dog who is a parent of the Mini Bernedoodle breed, the Old English Sheepdog is a fluffy and gentle giant. Mini Sheepadoodles take after their parents in equal measure. They have just enough spunk, plenty of affection to give, and lots of energy to spend. They are also easy to train and great at dog sports.

Are Mini Sheepadoodles hypoallergenic?

Although they are not likely to cause sneeze fits and other allergic reactions in allergy-suffering owners, Mini Sheepadoodles should be met first before being adopted since their hypoallergenic qualities depend on which of their parents has the more dominant genes in the mix. Most Mini Sheepadoodles are an excellent choice for allergy-sufferers, but there are also those that take after their Old English Sheepdog parent more and are not the best fit when it comes to allergies.

How big do Mini Sheepadoodles get?

Like the Mini Bernedoodle who is part gentle giant and part Mini Poodle, the Mini Sheepadoodle can be either small or medium-sized. A full-grown Mini Sheepadoodle can weigh between 25 and 45 pounds and grow to an average height of 15-20 inches.

Mini Sheepadoodle puppies for sale

Mini Sheepadoodle puppies are the cutest little fluffballs you’ve probably ever seen. They have puffy coats, cute round faces, and adorable floppy ears. Their disposition is always cheerful, and they want nothing more than to play, cuddle, and chase their favorite toy. Mini Sheepadoodle puppies are a wonderful match for people who like to be on the move, whether it's on a hiking trail or on a running track.
