The English Bulldog has its origin in the British Isles from the 12th century, where it was developed from the ancient Asiatic Mastiff. Its name was received because it was used in bull baiting and due to its robust look. The breed passed through several crossing and in the end resulted the English Bulldog of our days, with a different temperament. It was first recognized in 1886.
